After-school care (4-12)

When you get out of school, you want to do what you like. After all, it is your free time! First have a drink, tell your story and then… enjoy playing! Dress up as a pirate, knight or princess. Build the most beautiful aeroplane of Lego or organise a fashion show together. Fooling around with your friends, building a cabin outside, playing football together. Or how about just quietly reading a book or playing a game; of course, you can! Because after school it’s time to relax.

Leisure time

After-school care time is leisure time. That is why the children pick their own pastime. The pedagogical workers supervise the children and offer attention and structure. And of course, they organise all kinds of challenging activities, in which the children can participate if they feel like it.

Attractive range of activities

We offer children a challenging and varied programme with activities in the field of sports & games, nature, technology, culture and creativity. The children choose which activities they participate in. Every pedagogical worker has his or her own unique talent or specialism. We make full use of these talents. We also often work together with external parties.

During holidays and on school holidays we offer an extra-extensive programme filled with activities, workshops, clinics and excursions.

Are you not a client of ours and do you (unexpectedly) need after-school care? Then our occasional out-of-school childcare is for you!

Early morning care

While you go to work early in the morning, your child can join in our after-school care or read a book before school starts. We escort the children safely to school; the youngest ones will be escorted to their classrooms.

Fun activities

We offer the children a challenging and varied programme, filled with activities, workshops, clinics and trips in the field of sports & games, culture, creativity and nature experiences. Every pedagogical worker has his or her own unique talent or specialism and we often work together with external parties. The children are free to choose the activities they wish to participate in.

Offer Schools of Art under after-school care time

Your child can follow courses and workshops at Scholen in de Kunst (art school programme) in after-school care-time with us! Fun for your child and easy for you as a parent!

Independence

As children grow older, they will receive – in close consultation with the parents – more responsibility. We work with independence agreements.

Child participation

We carefully listen to the children’s wishes and ideas. The youngest children use creative ways of working to see what they want. Children from the age of 7 can participate in the children’s council and the teenagers will think up and organise their own activities for the most part.

Opening hours

Our after-school care is opened from Monday to Friday after school until 18:30* and on school holidays and days with no school from 7:30 – 18:30. We are open throughout the summer and between Christmas and New Year. We are closed on public holidays. On the 24^th and 31^st of December we close at 16:00.

Ska offers 3 after-school care-packages:

• Childcare during school and holiday weeks (total package)With a total package, you get 12 freely useable childcare days per fixed childcare day and even with a holiday package, you are not bound to fixed contract days. You decide which days you take during holidays or school holidays.
• Child care during school weeks (school week package)
  Day’s with no school and holidays
• Only child care during the holiday weeks (holiday package)

Day of extra care or exchanging childcare days

Do you need extra care in addition to your regular childcare days? This is possible if occupancy allows it. It is also possible – at no extra cost – to exchange a childcare day. This can be done within a period of 2 weeks before and 6 weeks after the day with which the exchange takes place. This must also be requested at least two days in advance. Exchanges are only possible if occupancy permits it.

Registration number

You can find the registration number of your child’s location on the relevant location page.

Cancellation

You can cancel via e-mail. The notice period is one month. (Also, in case of a partial cancellation).

Change of parts of the day

If you would like to change parts of the day, you can request this from our customer advisors via 033 470 13 03 or by e-mail.

If something changes in your data, we ask you to change this yourself in My Ska. You can find more practical information in our:

Are you not a client of ours, and do you still need (unexpected) care? For example, because the school has planned an unexpected day off, because the babysitter is ill, because you suddenly have other obligations or because you want your child to participate in our fun holiday programme? Then our occasional childcare is for you!

How does it work?

• Please contact us.
• We will discuss your wishes and personal details with you and then offer you a ‘0-hour contract’. Drawing up this agreement is free of charge.
• Follow-up requests for incidental childcare can be made at our parents’ portal My Ska.

Childcare allowance

If you and your partner are working, following a training programme, a pathway to work or an integration course, you might be able to receive childcare benefit for incidental care. You can check the Tax Office’s website to see whether you are entitled to childcare benefit.

No early morning care in your neighbourhood (yet)?

If there is sufficient interest, we will also start pre-school childcare at a location near you. Please contact us for more information.

Some children need more than regular after-school care can provide. For example, because they need extra support, care or structure. For these children there is the after-school care-extra programme.

Your child will go to a regular after-school care and will receive extra supervision there. Together with you and in consultation with the school and any other agencies, we look at what is required. We will match your child’s specific needs for care as closely as possible.

Pedagogical specialists after-school care

Ska Childcare Centres employ pedagogical specialists for after-school care work. These are pedagogical workers with specific knowledge of and/or experience with children with behavioural and developmental problems. They support their colleagues in supervising children who need extra care or attention.
