Nursery (0-4 years)

Our expert staff will care for and guide your child with love and attention. In the safe environment of our childcare centres your child is free to explore the world, care-free.

Room to explore

We offer children the space to develop and explore the world around them. Literally and figuratively: we love going on adventures, indoor and outdoors. The door to the neighbouring group is regularly open, so there will always be friends to play with.

Always a familiar face

Two of our neighbouring groups form a unit and each unit shares a team of pedagogical workers. All children and staff members within a unit know each other, which also means that there is always a familiar face for the children.

At their own pace

Within the unit we care for children between 0 to 4 years old. This vertical age structure is a conscious choice; the children can connect with each other in a natural way, support each other and challenge each other through play. A child can develop at his/her own pace.

Personal attention

We supervise the children in small groups, so they will have a lot of personal attention. These groups are formed (spontaneously or purposefully) with children that are in the same phase of development and/or have the same interests.

Attention and care for your baby

Our pedagogical staff care for your child with loving attention and warmth, leaving him/her feeling at home. With sleeping and eating we follow the schedule that you use at home. One part of the group area has been specially equipped for babies.

You can see instantly how your child is doing in the Ska app!

Through the parent portal of My Ska, we can give you an idea of your child’s experiences in our childcare centre. With photos and a digital diary. We even have a special Ska app for your mobile and tablet! You can read how your child’s day was whenever it suits you. Often, it’s already on there before you have even picked up your child! Would you like to send a message to the staff? It’s all possible, quick and easy via My Ska.

Experiencing nature in the discovery garden

The children have fun playing outside, whenever it is possible. In our special discovery garden, they have plenty of space to move around and explore. They walk, run, climb, clamber and roam. They toss in the sand, roll in the grass, play with twigs and collect leaves, balance over a tree trunk, hide between the bushes and pick up a piece of tree bark in search of creepy crawlies.

Guiding development

At all our childcare centres and Pre-schools we guide the development of babies, toddlers and young children with programmes such as Uk & Puk and Piramide. Play is at the heart of each of our programmes! We work with themes that relate to the direct experience of children: the seasons, being sick and healthy, traffic and so on. The activities fit into the daily routine of the childcare centre.

Explore the neighbourhood!

Our staff regularly take the children on an adventure.

Pre-school

From the childcare centre, the toddlers participate in the program of the Pre-school (our ‘new style’ toddler playroom). This is an excellent preparation for primary school.

Pedagogical specialist

One or more pedagogical specialists work at each childcare centre. A pedagogical specialist is an experienced pedagogical worker with an enormous amount of up-to-date knowledge on the development of the young child. The specialist supports and guides colleagues within the team, regarding the development of the children.

Practical information

Practical information for the childcare centres

At our child-care centres* we offer from 1 January 2020:

• Full day, childcare on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 7:30 – 18:30 hours
• Morning childcare Wednesday and Friday: 7:30 – 13:00 hours
• Afternoon childcare Wednesday and Friday: 13:00 – 18:30 hours

Minimum presence

We require your child to be present at least 1 full day a week in our centre.

Arranging an additional day of childcare or changing days

Does your child require extra care, in addition to the regular childcare days? This is possible if occupancy allows for it. It is also possible – at no extra cost – to exchange childcare days. This can be done within a period of 2 weeks before and 6 weeks after the day with which the exchange takes place. This must be requested at least two days in advance. Exchanges are only possible if occupancy allows for it.

Closing days

All our locations and our service centre are closed on all public holidays. We close at 16:00 hours on 24 and 31 December, if these fall during the week. We are open throughout the summer and between Christmas and New Year.

Registration number

You can find the registration number of your child’s location on the location page concerned.

Cancellation

When your child turns four years old, the childcare automatically stops. If you would like to extend the placement, please contact us. Interim cancellation can take place via e-mail. The notice period is one month (also in the case of a partial cancellation).

Change of parts of the day

If you would like to change parts of the day, you can request this from our customer consultants via 033 470 13 03 or by e-mail.

Healthy

At Ska, we stand for healthy development, and a healthy diet goes hand in hand with that. At Ska we do not serve sweet drinks – not even diluted juice – or sugary biscuits, but vegetables and fruit as snacks, and tea or water with a dash of fresh fruit extract to quench the thirst.

Discover the world in the garden

Your child will have plenty of room in our special discovery gardens! To toss in the sand, roll in the grass, play with twigs and collect leaves. There is something new to discover and experience for all ages.

Experience it with us

In ‘My Ska‘ you can see what your child experiences at our childcare centre, with photos and a digital diary, whenever it suits you. You can use My Ska via the website, but also through the Ska app.
